Laramie's newest pizza joint will be hosting an event to give free pizza to the first 100 students at the restaurant on Saturday, Sept. 2. Student ID will be required to claim the free pizza.

Kevin Whalen said that the restaurant had an "awesome turnout" from the Laramie community at their grand opening on June 10, giving other pizza restaurants like Domino's, Grand Avenue Pizza, Mr. Jim's, and Papa John's a new competitor. Whalen also mentioned that three of the restaurant's four operating managers are University of Wyoming alumni and that opening the restaurant in UW Plaza is "like coming home."

While other Toppers locations across the country often do free pizza giveaways at the beginning of the semester, Whalen said that the Laramie location "wanted to take that one step further" by giving a semester's worth of free pizza to 100 students. Students that claim the free pizzas will be given a packet of coupons that will average out to one pizza a week during the fall semester. Whalen mentioned that the restaurant would like to coordinate another event for the spring semester, but that the owners are working on the details of that event.

Whalen also acknowledged that some of the restaurant's pizza toppings, like tater tots, taco toppings, and barbecue chicken can be an acquired taste, but that "Laramie's been great. The community has really embraced it and tried us out."
