The atmosphere continues to build, as the Laramie Plainsmen get ready for their first game at the new Deti Stadium Friday night.

The game has been dubbed a “white-out” with fans being encouraged to wear white to the game. Even shirts entitled “New Era” are being sold by the LHS cheerleaders.

The focus for Laramie remains on the game. Coming off an opening 29-point loss, they’re looking to reverse their fortunes. The match-up against the Rock Springs Tigers will pit two different styles head-to-head.

After they gave up 222 yards on the ground last week, the Plainsmen defense will be a focal point again. They face a Rock Springs offense that plays a double-tight, double-wing style of offense. Last week the Tigers ran the ball 62 out of 64 offensive plays. That resulted in 290 yards and a victory.

Laramie counters with its aerial attack led by seniors Taylor Dodd and Conor Beeston. Both lead 4A in passing and receiving, respectively. Rock Springs surrendered 111 yards through the air last week. At 9.3 yards per attempt, that’s the most allowed by any 4A defense.

Plainsmen head coach Chuck Syverson knows his squad needs to concentrate on the game, not the hoopla. He also understands that his team needs to capitalize any chances they get, particularly in the red zone.

Laramie (0-1) hosts third-ranked Rock Springs (1-0) at the new Deti Stadium. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.

David Settle and VerDon Hoopes will call the action. Join them for the broadcast on KOWB at 5:30 p.m.
