A Number One Hit – 40 years ago [AUDIO]

Every week we do the Top 20 Country Countdown.  It's a chance to keep track of the very latest Country tunes in the nation. 

Well, I got to thinking about the whole idea of being number one and how the style of country has evolved over the years.  I thought it might be fun to jump back in time and chase down a number one country song in April from years gone by.

Turns out the number one song according to billboard magazine was "After the Fire is Gone" by Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn....in 1971!  It's really cool to hear the old steel guitars and the unique sound country had way back in the day.  Hope you enjoy this number 1 song from 4 decades ago.
