The Albany County Historical Society is holding a special meeting to host a book signing of "University of Wyoming," a pictorial book published as part of Arcadia Publishing's "Campus History Series."

The authors are Tamsen Hert, head of Emmet D. Chisum Special Collections at the UW Libraries, and Rick Ewig, associate director of the UW American Heritage Center. Ewig told UW that he and Hert had discussed the book for many years and decided to go ahead with the project as part of UW's 125th anniversary.

The book is illustrated with more than 200 photos dating from the late 19th century to this year. Topics covered in the 128-page soft-cover book include outreach activities, athletic teams and players, agriculture, and student groups and activities.

ACHS President Trey Sherwood says that although the ACHS typically does not meet in December, they thought this was a perfect way to celebrate a great accomplishment by two of their members. Hert is a former president of the ACHS and Ewig is the current President of the Wyoming State Historical Society. Sherwood says this will be a very informal meeting and people are encouraged to come and go as they please.

The book signing will take place on the 2nd floor at Night Heron Books in downtown Laramie from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18th. The book will be available for purchase for $20-$25.
