Amateur Radio Field Day will feature members of the local University Amateur Radio Club (UARC) participating June 23 and 24 downtown.

From noon Saturday until noon Sunday, the UARC will be at the historic Laramie Train Depot demonstrating the science, skill, and service of Amateur Radio, which is often referred to as ham radio operators.

Local Field Day Coordinator John Harrison, a member of the local UARC visited with host David Settle during the "Laramie Live on KOWB" radio morning show June 21. They talked about what will be happening, Harrison's interest in it and more.

According to a UARC release, anyone could become a licensed Amateur Radio operator. There are over 725,000 licensed hams in the United States, as young as 5 and as old as 100. With clubs such as The University Amateur Radio Club, it’s easy for anybody to get involved right here in Laramie and Albany County.

The event is free of charge and all ages are welcome.
