Billie Jo Spears has Died

Long-time fans of country music were saddend to discover that Billie Jo Spears, most well-know for her 1975 hit Blanket on the Ground has passed away at the age of 73.After a career that started as a young girl in Beaumont TX, Spears moved to Nashville in 1964.  It wasn't until five years later that she had her first success with Mr. Walker It's All Over.  It turned out to be what we call nowadays, a crossover, receiving airplay on country and pop stations.

Spears was was popular in both the US and UK and had a string of hits in both countries including   What I've Got in Mind, Misty Blue, 57 Chevrolet, If You Want Me and a cover of Tammy Wynette's Your Good Girl's Gonna Go Bad.

The singer passed away quietly at home in Vidor, Texas yesterday, December 14th.
