Wyoming Department of Transportation is advising motorists that a portion of Happy Jack Road will be closed due to blasting operations on Wednesday.

WYDOT resident engineer, Tim Morton, says that sometime between 2 pm and 4 pm on June 4th, Oftedal construction will stop traffic in both directions at milepost 23.8.  "Wednesday, they've got a rock excavation.  In order to remove the rock, they'll be blasting," says Morton.  "It won't be a large blast, it's a small blast area, adjacent to the roadway.  It's in a cut ditch that we need to remove excess material from."

Morton goes on to say that the closure of the popular highway between Cheyenne and Laramie should take between 20 and 30 minutes.

Blasting operations will be conducted as part of the ongoing widen and overlay of a stretch of roadway in the Curt Gowdy section.  Morton says they anticipate that they may have two more blasts like this to schedule for later this season.
