Bohl Credits Senior Class for Believing in the Process [VIDEOS]
The Mountain West Football Championship has almost arrived in Laramie, as the Wyoming Cowboys take on San Diego State Saturday night.
Big news came Friday evening when the University of Wyoming announced a contract extension for head football coach Craig Bohl. It was three years ago that he was hired to change the direction of Wyoming football. After he finished business in Fargo, ND, Bohl returned to Laramie and went to work.
One of the first items Bohl did was put up a slogan, “Those Who Stay Will Be Champions.” It was a small part of the process he wanted to use to rebuild the Cowboy football program.
Coach Bohl is now happy to see that come to fruition in just his third season at the helm.
The last time Wyoming was called conference champions in football was 1993, when they shared the Western Athletic Conference title with BYU and Fresno State.
This 2016 season has been a remarkable about-face from 2-10 last year. UW started 0-6 before they won two of their final six in 2015. Back in July at MW Media Days in Las Vegas, the Pokes were picked last in the Mountain Division. Bohl admitted some players used that as motivation for this year.
Wyoming will try to complete its journey Saturday at War Memorial Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 5:45 p.m.
