In anticipation of heavy traffic on US 287 between Ft. Collins and Laramie for the 107th Border War, Law enforcement agencies from both Colorado and Wyoming will be teaming up to keep drivers safe on Saturday.

Officers will increase patrols for drunk driving, speeding, and those who aren’t using seatbelts.

“One of the things we want to do by getting this story out ahead of time is prevent that very behavior.  We would be entirely pleased if on game day we didn’t have a reason to stop anybody,” said WYDOT Law Enforcement Liaison Pete Abrams.  “We are going to have increased high-visibility enforcement, and we want to discourage any bad behaviors out there on the road.”

Game day will see Mobile DWUI Command vehicles stationed on US 287 in both Colorado and Wyoming.  Traffic enforcement will be coordinated in both Albany County and Colorado’s Larimer County by multiple law enforcement agencies.

“This will be a zero tolerance effort, so expect to see all Albany County law enforcement out there watching for violations,” said Lt. Jeff Beeston of the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

The increased enforcement on Saturday will be from approximately 6 a.m. to midnight.

“That doesn’t mean that enforcement ends outside of those hours,” said Abrams.

The 30 miles of US 287 in Wyoming will be patrolled by the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, the Laramie Police Department, the University of Wyoming Police Department, the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Wyoming State Park Rangers, and the Cheyenne Police Department.
