University of Wyoming head men’s basketball coach Larry Shyatt announced Friday that senior guard Josh Adams will not start Saturday’s game versus Boise State.

The decision was made by Shyatt and his staff after Adams was assessed a technical foul versus Nevada this past Wednesday night.

Shyatt said in a release from the university,

“Our staff met after Wednesday night’s game and we decided that Josh (Adams) should apologize to the team once again, in addition to the apology he made to his teammates in the locker room immediately following the game. We informed Josh and his teammates on Thursday morning after breakfast of our decision to not start Josh this coming Saturday."

Shyatt goes on to say, “Let me be clear that Josh and his family are one of my personal favorites in my 41 years of coaching. He is like a son to me, and he is not only an exceptional competitor but is also a tremendous student-athlete and example-setter for our team. He is on schedule to graduate this spring and has a 2.9 cumulative grade-point average, with a 3.4 gpa this past fall semester. We are equally as proud of the example he sets in the classroom.”

The Cowboys and Broncos will tip-off at 2 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium.
