Broncs Hand Plainsmen First Loss

Dontae Crow proved to be a difference-maker, as the 3rd-ranked Sheridan Broncs knocked off the 2nd-ranked Laramie Plainsmen by a final of 3-1 Friday.

Crow scored twice in the second half, as Sheridan rallied from a goal down for a 4A East Conference road breakthrough.

Plainsmen head coach Andy Pannell said,

"We were bad in front of our own net. We did not defend free kicks well at all tonight. We let players run free in the box. We also had no decisive edge, in terms of trying to score, in front of their net."

Laramie (2-1, 0-1) got on the board in the 15th minute when freshman Enrique Isidro knocked the ball past Broncs keeper Jess Edens. The score came off a free kick by Ryan Petersmann that Edens couldn't handle.

Sheridan (3-1-2, 2-0) tied in the 34th minute of action. Cody Williams took a corner kick that Riley Sessions was able to head past Plainsmen keeper Kolton Rap.

Then Crow came through with the game winner in the 57th minute. Laramie failed to clear a Sessions free kick, and Crow capitalized. He added the icing on the cake with another ball the Plainsmen couldn't clear in the box in the 80th minute.

Pannell did feel his squad had the run of play against the Broncs.

"I don't think we deserved to lose the game, but you know, it's hard to say you deserved to win, when you're that bad in your own box and your opponent's box."

Laramie will try to bounce back Saturday versus Gillette at noon. The match is at the UW North 40 soccer field.

On a separate note, the Laramie Lady Plainsmen (2-1, 0-1) lost their 4A East Conference opener at #3 Sheridan by a final score of 3-2. No other details were provided to KOWB Sports.
