During a time of cutting the budget and staff, why is having the city's own health inspector worth as much as $100,000 per year more than having the same job done to the same standards by the State Health Inspector at no cost to the city like all the other cities in Wyoming?


The City Manager's budget recommendation is to eliminate the Environmental Health position when current contracts expire in 2017. Elimination of the position would result in restaurant and pool/spa inspection and licensing responsibilities reverting back to the State of Wyoming resulting in a reduction in city expenses currently estimated at ~$86,000 ($76,000 salary/benefits plus ~$10,000 in residual expenses for the program such as vehicle, equipment, etc.).

City Council will make the final decision on the matter.
