Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley co-hosted the CMA Awards every year from 2008 through 2018, and each year, they got more confident ... and their jokes got even funnier.

Throughout their years as hosts, Paisley and Underwood made plenty of people laugh -- and made fun of plenty of people. They weren't afraid of diving into controversial topics and poke fun at pretty much anyone: They name-checked stars such as Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan and more ... but for the most part, Paisley and Underwood's one-liners were lighthearted, not cruel.

"We're like one big, slightly dysfunctional family," Paisley said one year, then paused and added, "It's like George Strait plus eight."

Another time, after Paisley informed his co-host that twerking was a medical term, Underwood corrected him, saying, "Twerking is ... well, have you ever been to a Luke Bryan concert?"

The 2019 CMA Awards are scheduled to air on ABC on Nov. 13, at 8PM ET; the ceremony will take place live at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. On Monday (Aug. 19), the Country Music Association announced that Underwood will be returning to host the show -- but instead of Paisley, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton will be with her as special guest co-hosts.
