Two vehicles collided on Interstate 80 this past Friday and caused road closures for several hours. The accident occured at 11:30 a.m. when William Murphy, driving an oversized load at 55 mph, was struck from behind by driver Wilma Riggle, traveling 65 mph.

Officials closed the interstate due to the resulting oil and diesel fuel spill which covered the entire bridge deck; the highway was reopened after cleanup operations were complete.
Both William Murphy and Wilma Riggle were admitted to the hospital, treated for minor injuries, and released. Chris Britton, Wilma's passenger, was airlifted to Colorado for back and neck injuries.
