Chalk N’ Cheese Wins Liquor License

The City of Laramie awarded the last remaining retail liquor license to Chalk N’ Cheese in a special session on Monday night.

The council took just under two hours to complete the session.  Public comment was heard for each applicant and after a short recess, the council returned to decide the order in which the applications would be discussed.

With the greatest number of ‘yes’ votes, Chalk N’ Cheese was considered first and subsequently chosen to receive the license with a majority vote of 6-3.

Co-owners Cyndi Martin and Misty Hester combined their businesses The Copper Kettle and Antique Fever to form Chalk N’ Cheese in 2013.  Their café offers artisan cheese from regions including Spain, Italy, England, Ireland, France, the U.S., and others.  Also available are olive oils, jams, mustards, a variety of balsamic vinegars, peanuts, crackers, and pastas.

Martin says that the retail liquor license will allow customers to make purchases they can take home to enjoy.

After the license was awarded to Chalk N’ Cheese, Hester said the pair was “very, very gracious; very thankful."

Hero Primo, LLC; Arsenio Lemus Holding, LLC; High Elevations Investments, LLC; Shocktoberfest Productions, LLC; and Big D Oil Company were all denied the retail liquor license in a motion that concluded that portion of the session.
