Challenges to Wyoming Capitol Restoration Percolate in Court
State Treasurer Mark Gordon is pressing a lawsuit alleging problems with how the state contracted for the project.
Gordon claims the state constitution requires him to sign off on Capitol contracts and says a state law that established a legislative oversight panel is unconstitutional.
Republican Representative Gerald Gay of Casper and Karl Allred, an Evanston contractor, also are suing Nicholas and other lawmakers.
Their lawsuit claims state officials violated the Constitution by letting contracts without competitive bids on the Capitol restoration and other projects.
Nicholas says the state took competitive bids in hiring the main Capitol restoration contractor and says the contractor is taking bids for aspects of the work.
