CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Cheyenne is bracing for another round of budget cuts in the wake of the energy sector's continued downturn.

Mayor Rick Kaysen said Thursday that the city's budget is projected to shrink by 6 percent for the fiscal year that begins July 1.

Next year's projected budget will likely be $47.4 million, down from the city's current $50.4 million budget.

Kaysen says he doesn't support across-the-board cuts, but instead will look to cut costs in smaller ways, such as delaying city projects and equipment purchases. He says he doesn't anticipate layoffs at this time.

The mayor will present the draft of the Fiscal Year 2016-17 budget to City Council in early May.
