A Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after allegedly smashing the windows on a pickup outside of a Cheyenne bar last month.

Twenty-eight-year-old Christopher Cordova made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

According to court documents, police were called to the Lamp Lounge around 8:30 p.m. on March 24 after Cordova and his girlfriend reportedly tried to pick a fight with two men who were outside smoking.

One of the men, Michael Pena, told police that Cordova threw a brick or a rock at his pickup, breaking out a portion of the back window, and began attacking the other man.

While Pena was reportedly trying to break up the fight, he said Cordova’s girlfriend stole his wallet from the console in his truck, stating “we know where he lives now.”

Pena also told police that when he and his wife got in the truck to leave, Cordova smashed both side windows out with a baseball bat.

Cordova reportedly told police that the two men approached him and his girlfriend and that Pena retrieved a baseball bat and hit him with it. Cordova said when he took the bat from Pena, the two men got in Pena’s pickup and started ramming his car.

Cordova told police that he was scared Pena was going to run him and his girlfriend over so he began hitting the windows with the bat. He also told police that Pena struck him in the shin with his pickup.

Police examined Cordova, but didn’t notice any injuries. They said Cordova’s car did have a large dent on the rear bumper, but the bumper didn’t appear to have been hit multiple times or damaged by Pena’s truck.

Police arrested Cordova on a felony warrant for property destruction on April 18.

Cordova’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 25. If convicted, he could face up to ten years in prison.
