A Cheyenne man was arrested Thursday after police say he fired a gun in his house and threatened to kill his ex-lover.

Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Dan Long says officers were called to 1226 King Court after they received a report of a domestic disturbance.

"When they arrived on scene they began the investigation and found that a 49-year-old man was involved in a domestic dispute with a woman," said Long. "During the dispute he took out a firearm, he shot into the floor and he did threaten her."

The victim told police that Kenneth Barteau "pointed a pistol at her and threatened to kill her."

"They were previously in a romantic relationship and currently living together," said Long.

Officers suspect Barteau was drunk at the time of the incident. Luckily, no one was injured during the altercation.

Barteau was arrested for aggravated assault. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 7 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
