A 25-year-old Cheyenne man who lead deputies on a high-speed chase in February could face up to ten and a half years in prison.

According to the affidavit, Laramie County deputies pulled Chaz Ulrich over in the 1100 block of Dayshia Lane shortly after 11 p.m. on February 28.

When deputies asked Ulrich to shut his car off, Ulrich reportedly took off, leading deputies south on U.S. Highway 85 at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

During the pursuit, deputies say Ulrich threw items out his car, including a baggie containing 29.2 grams of methamphetamine and a baggie containing .02 ounces of marijuana.

Deputies terminated the pursuit once they reached the Wyoming/Colorado border, but Weld County deputies were quickly able to find Ulrich, who had crashed about a mile into Colorado, and took him into custody.

Weld County deputies reportedly found a large amount of marijuana, multiple IV needles, drug paraphernalia and a spoon with heroin residue in Ulrich's car.

Ulrich has been charged with possession of methamphetamine-felony, eluding, possession of marijuana-misdemeanor, possession of heroin-misdemeanor, interference with a peace officer-resist and speeding-65 mph limit.

Ulrich is being held in the Laramie County Jail on $1,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 22.
