It's not unusual for the Cheyenne Police Department to recognize an officer's birthday, but it isn't usually an officer with four legs.

K9 officer Capo just celebrated his 7th birthday on Monday, April 24. The CPD helped him celebrate with a dog-friendly cake and some treats.

Capo has been a valued member of the CPD for several years and has become one of the department's biggest celebrities.

In 2015, Capo was credited with potentially saving an officer's life. When officer Lisa Koppel responded to break up a fight, one of the men involved attacked her and began hitting her in the face. Using the remote door release in her car, K9 Capo sprung into action removing the attacker off Koeppel and allowing her to arrest him.

In 2016, Capo helped keep Cheyenne Frontier Days safe by sniffing for bombs with his partner Ruger.
