KOWB has learned through sources that Chuck Syverson was offered and has accepted the position as the new head coach of the Laramie Plainsmen football team. He becomes the school's fifth coach in the last 11 years.

He comes to Laramie after four years in Thermopolis as the Bobcats' head coach. Syverson compiled a 30-14 overall record, which included back-to-back 2A State Championships in 2009 and 2010.

Chuck Syverson has been a teacher and coach for more than 20 years in Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, North Carolina, South Dakota and Wyoming. His previous stop was Spearfish, South Dakota, where as head coach of the Spartans he went 6-24 over 3 seasons.

Syverson's hiring is subject to approval by the Albany County School District School Board at their meeting tomorrow, May 8.

KOWB contacted Chuck Syverson, who stated, he is not at liberty to discuss anything until after the board meeting.

KOWB will be seeking official comment from the administration on the football and AD positions, as well as the new hires Thursday.
