The City of Laramie has shut down the Laramie River Greenbelt Park Trail system until further notice.

With the Laramie River expected to reach moderate flood stage this weekend, the trail system is closed from Curtis Street to Commerce Drive.

At this time, the city is anticipating the closure will last at least two weeks and perhaps longer.

Water is currently running over the greenbelt in multiple areas between Curtis and Garfield Streets. They are urging the public to use extreme caution if you are near or around the Laramie River. The city is also urging people to not attempt to cross the greenbelt trail sections that are underwater. The force of moving water is highly dangerous.

If you have questions or need further information, you are asked to contact Paul Harrison, Parks and Recreation Director at 721-5260 or Keith Wardlaw, Mosquito Control Supervisor at 721-5258.
