After signs of beaver activity have shown up in the Spring Creek area, the City of Laramie has contracted to have live traps set up near the Spring Creek storm drainage canal.

Beaver activity in the area could do damage to the surrounding trees and shrubs, as well as causing downstream flooding and blockage of drainage structures in the event of the beaver dam washing out in a high-water event.  Until the beaver is relocated, Parks staff has secured to reduce the likelihood of damage to the area.

Parks and Recreation Director Todd Feezer also said that the traps will remain set up for a couple of weeks after the relocation in case there are any additional beavers in the area.

Signage will be placed near the area along with the traps to warn the public of the hazard. It is still advised to avoid this area until the process is completed.
