Rolling Stone’s “Funniest Man Under 30” is coming to the University of Wyoming on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Aziz Ansari is one of the biggest stars in the comedy world. Doors for the first show will open at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. at the College of Arts and Sciences Auditorium. Doors for the second show will open at 8:30 p.m. with the show starting at 9:30 p.m.
Tickets for UW students go on sale Monday, Sept. 23 for $20. Tickets for non-students go on sale Monday, Sept. 30 for $30. Tickets can be purchased at the Wyoming Union Information Desk, the Fine Arts Box Office and online at www.uwyo.edu/FINEARTS.
Rolling Stone put Aziz on the cover of its special comedy issue and The Hollywood Reporter said that he “has become one of the most prolific writers and performers on the comedy scene in recent years.”
Ansari co-stars opposite Amy Poehler in the Emmy-nominated NBC series Parks and Recreation, which recently began production of its sixth season. Ansari’s portrayal of government employee ‘Tom Haverford’ has earned critical praise including Entertainment Weekly naming him one of its “Breakout TV Stars,” TV Guide naming him a “Scene Stealer” and People Magazine naming him 2011’s “Funniest Dude in Prime Time.”
Ansari has also kept busy in the film world. Most recently, his voice was featured in the Twentieth Century Fox animated film Epic, and he appeared in This Is The End opposite Seth Rogen and James Franco. Other film credits include Get Him to the Greek; I Love You, Man; Observe and Report and Ice Age: Continental Drift.
Ansari’s stand up work has been unparalleled over the past few years, including his self-released “Dangerously Delicious” and a special on Comedy Central titled “Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening.” Both albums continue to be mainstays on iTunes’ comedy best-seller list.
Assistant Director of the Campus Activities Center, Jennifer Kirk, believes Ansari’s performance will connect with the audience.
“I think a lot of students can relate to him and his comedy. I saw him perform last spring and he was phenomenal! He interacted with the crowd a lot and I think the students will appreciate the interaction,” Kirk said. “Hopefully we can achieve a sellout crowd for both of his performances and laughter – lots and lots of laughter.”
This event is sponsored by UW Concerts and Convocations. People needing assistance to attend this event can contact the CAC at (307) 766-6340. For more information about Ansari, visit his website, AzizAnsari.com.
