If you are in need of something to do this coming weekend look no further; UW is bringing performers to campus from Comedy Central for a free night of laughs that is open to UW students as well as the general public. The show gets started Friday, April 13th, at 9PM in the Wyoming Union Ballroom and will feature three performers from Comedy Central.

The comedians appearing include Rory Scovel, Chelsea Peretti, and Theo Von. Theo will be talking with us on the Laramie Live morning show this week as well to tell everyone what to expect, although the exact date is TBA. You can’t beat a free night of fun and with the comedians coming to town it is sure to be just that. Here is a little bit about the performers along with a video of each:

Chelsea Peretti

Chelsea Peretti is currently a writer on the Emmy-nominated NBC show “Parks and Recreation.” Previously, she wrote for “The Sarah Silverman Program” as well as various other shows, including the MTV Movie Awards and Nick Kroll’s forthcoming sketch show for Comedy Central. One of Variety’s top 10 comics to watch in 2010, Chelsea’s half hour “Comedy Central Presents” aired in 2011. She has recently been seen opposite Louis CK on his hit show “Louie,” on “The Sarah Silverman Program,” on “Last Call with Carson Daly,” and as a correspondent for “Lopez Tonight.” She is a regular on Tru TV’s The Smoking Gun Presents. Her voice can be heard in Grand Theft Auto IV and in Adult Swim’s “China, IL.” Chelsea has performed stand-up at festivals including the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, Just for Laughs Chicago, the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival, The Las Vegas Comedy Festival, SXSW, Bonnaroo, and Bumbershoot. She tours clubs and theatres across the country, and was one of four comedians in the 10-city Axe Twisted Humor Tour in conjunction with Funny or Die. She performs a monthly show at UCB entitled “How to Live with Chelsea Peretti” and is found regularly at venues around Los Angeles including the Improv, Largo, and The Comedy Store.

Rory Scovel

Rory Scovel mixes his spontaneous creativity and absurd view of the world. Whether discussing drugs, politics, or life in general he shifts the vibe of any room and places the audience in the scene of every punch line. Rory Scovel has been a favorite in the festival circuit performing at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, Vancouver Comedy Festival, Seattle Comedy Competition, Del Close Improv Marathon, Bumbershoot Festival, Sasquatch Music Festival and Chicago Improv Festival. In addition he’s opened for some of the nation’s biggest headliners including Louis CK, Daniel Tosh and Nick Swardson. Last year, he made his television debut on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Rory was recently featured on The John Oliver Show for Comedy Central as well as Conan. He is also about begin working on the Tom Arnold Sports Show for Fox Sports.

Theo Von

Theo Von is one of the fastest rising stars of stand-up comedy. He’s the genius behind CrankTexts.com, a website where he texts random numbers and gets into conversations with total strangers. CrankTexts was a weekly featured article on College Humor. CrankTexts.com has had 10 million page views and averages 18 clicks per visit. Theo is also the host of The Comedy Sideshow podcast – consistently one of the 10 most downloaded video podcasts on iTunes. He is a Louisiana native whom you may recognize as the winner of Comedy Central’s Reality Bites Back, from NBC’s Last Comic Standing S4, and Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham. Theo’s work as a stand-up comedian has garnered him numerous accolades including performing internationally at the South African Comedy Festival and in the states at both the Chicago JFL Festival and South Beach Comedy Festival. He currently headlines comedy club every weekend across the country.

The Campus Activities Center in conjunction with Concerts and Convocations, Friday Night Fever, and Student Activities Center all worked together to bring “Comedy Central on Campus” to the University of Wyoming.
