Wyoming Cowboys head wrestling Coach Mark Branch has announced the addition of four prep student-athletes to next year's lineup.

Montorie Bridges, Jaron Jensen, Hunter Mullins and Trent Olson will begin their UW academic and athletic careers in the fall of 2016-17.

"Our recruiting this fall was really focused on finding the guys we were looking for and to be honest we got the guys we wanted to get," Branch said. "We put a lot of time to court these student-athletes and sell them what we have to offer and I’m very pleased with this group.”

Montorie Bridges | Altus, Okla (Altus HS) | 125-133 pounds

Bridges projects to be a 125-/133 pound wrestler for the Cowboys. He is a two-time High School All-America selection. Bridges is a three-time placer at the Oklahoma State Championships. He placed fourth at the Fargo Junior Freestyle and seventh at the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals. Bridges was a three-time Oklahoma National Dual Team member and three-time Geary Champion. His current high school record stands at an impressive 125-7.

“We put a lot of work into getting Montorie to come to Wyoming and we are very excited about what he can bring to this team,” Branch said. “He has competed nationally and has been extremely impressive.”

Jaron Jensen | South Jordan, Utah (Herriman HS) | 141-149 pounds
Jensen projects to be a 141-/149 pound competitor for the Pokes. He was a Utah State Champion at Herriman High School. Jensen was a 2015 UWW Cadet Double All-American in freestyle and Greco. He also earned that honor in 2013. He was also a 2015 Fargo Junior Greco All-American. In 2013 and 2014, he was named All-America at the Reno Tournament of Champions. Also during those seasons, he was named NHSCA Freshman and Sophomore All-American.

“We were fortunate to get Jaron to Wyoming and he felt comfortable here right off the bat,” Branch said. “He is very talented and has been nationally ranked and will bring something special to the program.”

Hunter Mullins | Puyallup, Wash. (Orting HS) | 285 pounds
Mullins will add depth to the Cowboys at heavyweight. He attended the same high school as junior Drew Templeman, as he won a state championship. He was a Fargo Cadet All-American in Greco and finished as the national runner-up in freestyle. At the 2014 Walsh Ironman Tournament he finished fifth. He was runner-up at the 2013 Tri-State tournament. He finished in third-place during the 2014 Tri-State tournament.

“We needed to bolster our depth at heavyweight,” Branch said “Hunter has competed on the big stage and has been successful. In replacing Tanner Harms, I feel that with Hunter and Sam (Eagan) we are in very good shape.”

Trent Olson | Gillette, Wyo. (Wyoming Seminary Prep School) | 125-133 pounds
Olson will add strength to the lower weights for the Pokes as a 125-/133 pounder. A native of Wyoming, he was a Wyoming High School Champion as a freshman at Campbell County High School. He is also a two-time Pennsylvania Prep State Champion at Wyoming Seminary Prep School in Kingston, Penn. He was a Prep National runner-up in 2014 and 2015. He was also an Eastern States runner-up in 2015.

“Trent (Olson) is a very talented wrestler and it was kind of tough to get him since he hasn’t been in Wyoming for three years,” Branch said. “He has been exposed to big time wrestling and it is great to lure him back to Wyoming and anytime we can keep kids in state helps with the team dynamics.”
