The Wyoming Cowboys are back at home Saturday hosting the UC Davis Aggies in a 2 p.m. kick-off at War Memorial Stadium.

Both teams are 1-1 on the season. Wyoming has a home win in triple overtime against Northern Illinois and a loss at Nebraska last week. UC Davis lost their opener at Oregon, 53-28, but bounced back with a victory last week with a 52-35 victory over Southern Oregon.

Since 2000 the Cowboys are 11-2 against teams from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), but both of the losses have come in the last four years. That included a 24-13 defeat to North Dakota in the 2015 season opener for the Pokes.

Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl is aware that the line between FBS and FCS is not as distinct as it once was. He also recognizes that safety Andrew Wingard made a comment after the loss at Nebraska that these are the type of games the Cowboys must win.

The Aggies feature a potent offense that is averaging 504.5 yards and 40 points per game. They are led by quarterback Ben Scott, who throws for 342 yards a game. On the flip side is the UC Davis defense. It has struggled, as they allow 587.5 yards and 44 points per game. Linebacker Zach Jones and safety Ryan Parenteau lead the Aggies with 13 tackles apiece.

Coach Bohl knows this team could give the Cowboys some issues.

Wyoming is averaging 28 points per game, but allowing 43. The Pokes are at 404 yards on offense, but have surrendered 506 per game through the first two. That includes 370.5 through the air, a strength of the Aggies.

UW is 53-14-3 against eight current members of the Big Sky Conference. That equates to a .791 winning percentage.

This will be the first meeting between these two schools.
