They came close, but the Wyoming Cowboys remain win-less in the city of Fresno after they ended Wednesday night 67-62. The loss snapped a four-game win streak for UW.

Fresno State (9-13, 2-7) knocked down 8-of-8 free throws and got a huge offensive rebound and put-back by Alex Davis in the final four minutes that led to the victory. The Cowboys had three turnovers in that same stretch.

Wyoming (13-7, 4-3) trailed 33-26 at half and was down by 11 points with 17:17 left, at 39-28. That's when the Cowboys switched to their zone defense, and it triggered an 18-3 run that gave UW a 44-42 lead with 12:42 left. The lead was short-lived, as Fresno State took it back for good at the 10:12 mark. The Pokes hung around, but were never able to get the lead back, and Fresno State held on for the victory.

The Cowboys were led by Larry Nance, Jr. with 20 points. Riley Grabau added 14 in defeat. UW shot 47.9 percent (23-48) from the floor. They were 7-15 (46.7%) from beyond the arc and got out-rebounded 30-26.

Tyler Johnson scored 20 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for Fresno State. Marvelle Harris added 11 points. The Bulldogs shot 53.3 percent (24-45) from the field, which included 5-17 (29.4%) from deep.

Wyoming returns home on Saturday to take on Utah State. That game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. tip-off at the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie.
