It was a tough opening weekend for the Wyoming Cowgirls on the volleyball court. They lost all three matches at the Purdue Mortar Board Premier.

The Cowgirls lost in three sets to No. 20 Purdue Friday morning. The scores of the match were 27-29, 16-25 and 17-25. Senior Kayla Slofkiss led UW with eight kills.

Wyoming fell in their second match last Friday to No. 24 Kentucky in straight sets, as well. The scores went 19-25, 21-25 and 10-25. Slofkiss led the way again with seven kills and 13 digs.

Saturday morning, the Cowgirls concluded the tournament with a four-set loss to Washington State. Those scores were 16-25, 25-21, 14-25 and 20-25. Sophomore Emily Lewis led the squad with 12 kills, one off her career-high. Senior Laura Beach added ten kills.

Junior Lily Austin recorded 42 digs in the three matches and was named to the All-Tournament team.

Wyoming returns to action Monday with their home opener against North Dakota State (0-3) at 6 p.m. in the Uni-Wyo Sports Complex.
