University of Wyoming release --

Head coach Joe Legerski and Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will open up the 2013-14 season this week with their first and only exhibition game. They will host the Chadron State Eagles, on Friday, Nov. 1. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Arena Auditorium. Live stats and audio can be found at www.gowyo.com.

Wyoming returns two starters and nine letterwinners to a team that finished with a 24-8 overall record and a 12-4 mark in Mountain West play. Of those returning players, they are led by juniors Kayla Woodward and Kaitlyn Mileto. A Second Team All-MW selection a year ago, Woodward averaged 14.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in 32 games. She was selected as the MW Preseason Player of the Year and to the Preseason All-Conference Team. Mileto added 11.8 points and 2.6 rebounds on her way to earning Third Team All-MW honors a year ago. Seniors Fallon LewisChelan Landry and Kaylee Hoffman will also factor in to the Cowgirls success. Lewis averaged 6.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in her first season with the Cowgirls, while Landry chipped in 3.9 points and Hoffman saw action in 21 games.

Other key contributors back for the Cowgirls are junior Jordan Sibrel and sophomores Marquelle DentWhitney Gordon and Fatima Thiam. They also welcome four newcomers with Jasmine DavisJordan KelleyHailey Ligockiand Kaylie Rader.

Chadron State comes into the season with five starters and five letterwinners to a team that went 5-21 overall and 5-17 in the RMAC last season. The last time the two teams met November 17, 2011 when the Cowgirls defeated the Eagles 69-61. They are coached by Tim Connealy who is in his sixth season with the program.

Wyoming will open up the regular season on Friday, Nov. 8, against the Montana State-Northern Skylights. The game will be played in Sheridan, Wyo.
