The Wyoming basketball team will try to avenge an earlier conference season loss as they host the San Jose State Spartans, on Saturday, Feb. 15. The game is set to tip-off at 2:00 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium. Live stats, audio and video can be found through the women's basketball Gameday Central page located on the www.gowyo.com website. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game. The WBCA's Play 4Kay is an opportunity for a nation of coaches to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The official charity is the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in partnership with The V Foundation and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

The Cowgirls are 16-6 overall and 7-4 in MW action after a nine point win, 69-60 over the San Diego State Aztecs, on Wednesday night. It was the first conference road win for UW. Kayla Woodward is averaging a team high 17.4 points plus 7.0 rebounds, while Fallon Lewis is adding 14.9 points and a team high 9.5 rebounds. Kaitlyn Mileto follows with 14.2 points and Marquelle Dentleads the way with 4.6 assists plus 9.3 points per game. In league games, Woodward is third in scoring (17.8 ppg) and ninth in rebounding (7.0 rpg). Mileto is currently fifth in scoring with 15.0 points per game, while Lewis leads the league in rebounding with 9.9 per game.

Wyoming is third in the league in scoring defense (65.3 ppg) and assists (15.7 aspg), plus fourth in scoring offense and rebounding margin. They are also shooting 566-1335 (.424) from the field and 143-423 (.338) from beyond the arc, which are second and fifth respectively. In Mountain West games, they are third in scoring offense and field goal percentage, fourth in scoring defense and assists, fifth in rebounding margin and three-point field goal percentage.

The Spartans are 10-13 overall and 4-8 in MW play. Last time out, they defeated Air Force, 84-71, in Colorado Springs. They are led by Ta'Re Cunnigan who is averaging a team high 19.3 points plus 5.0 rebounds. Riana Byrd is averaging a team high 9.8 rebounds plus 9.4 points. They return five starters and six letterwinners to a team that went 11-19 overall and 8-10 in the WAC last season.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two schools. Wyoming leads the series 2-1. The last time the two teams met was January 18, 2014 as the Spartans defeated the Cowgirls, 74-68, in San Jose. They are coached by Jamie Craighead who is in her first season with the program.

In conjunction with the game, the University of Wyoming Athletics Department is sponsoring the 10th Annual Walk for Women. All proceeds from the event directly benefiting the Play 4Kay Foundation. The walk will be held in the Arena Auditorium Concourse with registration set to begin at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $30 per person or $15 for youth (6th grade and under) and $15 for UW Students. All participants will receive a t-shirt and lunch along with free admission to the Wyoming vs. San Jose State WBB game at 2:00 p.m. Registration can be completed at www.gowyo.com, the University of Wyoming Athletics Department or the Brown and Gold Outlet. The Stadium parking lot, east of War Memorial Stadium, will also be available for all Walk for Women participants this Saturday. People will be allowed to park in the lot all day for both the walk and the game.
