The Wyoming Cowboys fell to the Colorado State University Rams 78 to 73 Jan.12, 2018 in the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie. The loss came after losing on the road to the New Mexico Lobos earlier in the week. The Pokes, however, have been playing well in the "Dome of Doom" with an 8-1 record; however, they are now 8-2 at home after the Rams visit.

The Pokes started out with energy with a 8-2 headstart but dropped the lead after CSU's J.D. Paige took the Rams 10 to 9 past the Pokes. The Pokes struggled for consistency afterward with a final 36 percent field goal percentage.

The had a small spark that took them to 29-30 at the half with CSU leading. But the energy wasn't enough to get them the "W."

CSU Ram Prentiss Nixon came into the Arena averaging 18 points per game. Tonight he scored 16 against the Pokes, and his 6/7 free throws helped the Rams maintain dominance down the stretch.

Hayden Dalton and Alan Herndon both scored 18 with Justin James 16 points. In the press conference after the game, Justin James said the locker room takeaway was that they need to talk this game personally and look into the mirror.

Wyoming Cowboys Head Coach Allen Edwards said they placed themselves behind CSU.

"When we go into slumps like that on offense, it's because of ourselves, "Edwards said.

The Cowboys will next face Utah State in Logan, UT.
