CBSNews.com conducted and interview with Darius last month and had some good news for his fans:  It seems he's been hard at work on his next country album (that would be his 3rd) and will be a follow-up to the very successful Charleston, SC 1966.

By now, of course, everyone knows the back story on Darius; the fact that he was the front-man for Hootie and The Blowfish and the phenomonal success of the band's debut album Cracked Rear View.  That album remains one of the most successful albums of all time.

But, that was then.  And this is now.  Since coming on board in the country scene, he's had almost as much success.  He's already had five number 1 tunes on Billboard's country songs charts.  No small feat considering he's not been in the genre that long.

His third album is still more or less on the drawing boards.  He's hoping for a release sometime in early 2012, but nothing definite has been set up.

And as to his "former" life with Hootie and the Blowfish?  Well, turns out the band still plays the occasional charity gig.

We'll always be together.  I don't think we'll ever break up totally. We're Hootie & the Blowfish ... We'll make another record and do another tour someday. I don't know when, but it will happen. There's one more in us.

It's nice when an artist can claim two rabid groups of fans.

For now, Darius Rucker is more focused on the upcoming tour with Lady Antebellum.
