That's the word from sources close to the show.  It seems Dierks was reccomended by John Rich of Big and Rich, who won the competition last year.

Remember when Trace Adkins appeared on the show, placing second?  The producers asked Trace if he had any reccomendations.  Trace didn't hesitate and offered John Rich's name to the possible cast list.  John won.  Then, when John was asked about another country star, Dierks Bentley's name came up.

But, it appears that Dierks is going to have to pass.  At least for this season.

"I was actually asked," Dierks reveals to Seattle's KMPS radio. "I considered it for a long time, and I was flattered to be asked. But at the end of the day, I love playing music -- it's what excites me creatively. Writing songs, making records and touring is everything to me. That's the dream, and the dream takes up a lot of time. With two kids and a wife, my plate's pretty full."

Dierks has plenty more on his schedule too.  His Country and Cold Cans Tour will take him to 22 cities and is set to kick off in early October.

I certainly understand why Dierks would have to pass on a season of "Celebrity Apprentice".  But I really would have enjoyed watching him.  He's got a great sense of humor and is sharp as a tack.  I have no doubt that He would have done quite well.  And I wouldn't be surprised at all if he had won.

Oh, well.  Maybe next season.
