Garrett Dodd hit two home runs, including a grand slam as the Laramie 11-12 All-Stars dominated Riverton 16-3 in their state tournament opener Wednesday.

Dodd finished with four hits and eight RBI’s. He had an RBI single in the first and a two-run home run in the second. He added an RBI on an error in the fourth and added the slam in the sixth.

11-12 year old manager Jerry Dodd said of the victory,

“Everyone came to play today. Very focused and the players contributed in every aspect of the game. It was great team win.”

Ben Ruckman added a solo blast in the fourth inning. Laramie totaled 15 hits and took advantage of seven walks and five Riverton errors.

Brandon Chavez and Jaedyn Brown added three hits apiece.

Camden Shipman got the win on the mound. He threw two-and-a-third innings with seven strike-outs. A total of four Laramie pitchers gave-up just three hits.

The 11-12 All-Stars will play Cody at 4 p.m. Thursday at the 2016 Wyoming State Little League tournament in Lovell. Cody defeated Gillette 12-8 in the other first round game.
