Don’t Miss Days – 2011 University of Wyoming Homecoming

It’s homecoming time at the University of Wyoming! The theme this year is “Wanted: Cowboys of the West.” To help you celebrate, here is a guide to all the events going on.

Thursday, October 13

ALL DAY EVENTS
-Cowboy Joe Horseshoe Hunt. Look for daily clues in the Branding Iron.
-”100 Authors” exhibit on display in Coe Library on Level 2. Features photos, signatures and comments about libraries from over 100 authors.

8 AM
-Pre-College and Student Visit Programs till 5 p.m. in Knight Hall Room 106.

9 AM
-The Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center open for tours. Guided tours available at 9 and 11 a.m.

10 AM
-Cowboy Battalion Cadets Homecoming Canned Food Drive. Drop off canned food items in the Wyoming Union between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

11 AM
-Slices at Simpson Plaza. Free pizza, get a homecoming t-shirt between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. If bad weather, will be held in the Union Skylight Lounge.

2 PM
-Scavenger Hunt starts at the Berry center.

2:30 PM
-UW Athletics Annual Car Push at the southwest ramp of War Memorial Stadium. Sign up sheets available in the Campus Activities Center in the Wyoming Union.

3:30 PM
-Keith and Thyra Thomson Honors Convocation in A & S Auditorium with Wyoming Governor Matt Mead.

5 PM
-Nuclear magnetic resonance machine dedication in the Physical Science building basement in Room 13.

7 PM
-Wyoming Cowgirls vs. TCU volleyball match in the UniWyo Sports Complex.

8 PM
-80′s themed Homecoming Dance in the Wyoming Union Ballroom with Blast from the Past Fashion Show and live 80′s rock band Chadzilla and the Asteroids.

Friday, October 14

ALL DAY EVENTS
-College of Engineering and Applied Science open house in the Dean’s Office, Room 2085.
-Cowboy Joe Horseshoe Hunt. Look for daily clues in the Branding Iron.
-”100 Authors” exhibit on display in Coe Library on Level 2. Features photos, signatures and comments about libraries from over 100 authors.

8 AM
-All Alumni Registration from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Alumni House, 14th Street and Grand Avenue.
-Breakfast on the Lawn in Prexy’s Pasture from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Free for visiting alumni, students, faculty and staff.

8:30 AM
-The University Bookstore will give a discount to alumni of one percent for every year since graduation up to 25 percent. All 50 year reunion members will receive a 50 percent discount. Alumni must register at the Alumni House to get the official discount coupon.

9 AM
-Class of 1961 registration from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Alumni House, 14th Street and Grand Avenue.
-UW Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing open house and Simulation Center tours from 9-11 a.m. on the third floor of the Health Sciences building.
-The Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center open for tours. Guided tours available at 9 and 11 a.m.

10 AM
-School of Energy and Carbon Management Institute open house at new location – 2020 Grand – 5th floor of the First National Bank Building from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
-Cowboy Battalion Cadets Homecoming Canned Food Drive. Drop off canned food items in the Wyoming Union between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

11AM
-ASUW Pig roast in Prexy’s Pasture from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

11:30 AM
-Class of 1961 reunion 50-Year Luncheon in the Wyoming Union Family Room from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. RSVP to the Alumni Association.

Noon
-College of Engineering and Applied Science – H.T. Person Lecture in the Classroom Building Room 310 featuring Dr. Daniel J. Pack, Director Academy Center for UAS Research Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, U.S. Air Force Academy.

1 PM
-Counseling/College of Education open house for the Counselor Education Training Clinic from 2-5 p.m. in the Education building room 44 (basement).

2 PM
-Welcome for the 50th Class reunion members at Coe Library.

3:30 PM
-Former President of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev speaks in the Arena Auditorium.

4 PM
-Pharmacy Alumni Reception in the Linda L. Wells Student Learning Center, HS 291.

5 PM
-Wyoming Infrared Observatory open house at Jelm Mountain with UW Physics and Astronomy Department. Call 307-766-6150 to make reservation, seating is limited.

5:30 PM
-Department of Geology and Geophysics reception from 5:30-7 p.m. in the atrium of the Earth Sciences Building.

7 PM
-Homecoming Sing and “A Night of Madness” in Arena Auditorium – Homecoming Kick Off.

Saturday, October 15

ALL DAY EVENTS

8 AM
-All Alumni Registration from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Alumni House, 14th Street and Grand Avenue.

8:30 AM
-College of Business Breakfast and Building Tours from 8:30-11 a.m. at the Business Building at 15th and Ivinson.

9 AM
-Anthropology Building open house from 9 a.m. to noon with museum tours and coffee.

9:15 AM
-Cowboy Walk from Hilton Garden Inn & UW Conference Center to War Memorial Stadium.

9:30 AM
-Cowboy Joe Pony Handler alumni reception/brunch from 9:30-11 a.m. in the foyer of the Animal Science/Molecular Biology Building.

10 AM
-Tailgate Park opens
-UW Homecoming Parade begins at 9th Street and Ivinson, goes west to 2nd Street, south on 2nd Street to Grand Avenue, east on Grand Avenue to disperse at 15th Street.
-UW President’s Tailgate at the west end of the Indoor Practice field.

Noon
-UW Cowboys vs. UNLV Rebels football game on Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium.

4:30 PM
-Reception celebrating 50 years of the Honors Program and the new honors house, 1502 Fraternity Row, formally the Kappa Sigma House.

5 PM
-After Game reception fro the Class of 1961 at the UW Alumni House.

6 PM
-College of Engineering and Applied Science Awards Banquet at the UW Conference Center in the Hilton Garden Inn.

7 PM
-Wyoming Cowgirls vs. New Mexico volleyball match in the UniWyo Sports Complex.
