A University of Wyoming student was arrested Friday on two charges of possession of controlled substances, one of them a felony.

19-year-old Austin White was arrested shortly after 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, after officers of the Laramie Police Department allegedly located pills and glass pipes with suspected marijuana residue in them inside White’s vehicle.

According to a press release from LPD, officers were called to the Probation and Parole Office at 2020 Grand Ave. for the report of someone who had controlled substances in their vehicle.  When they arrived, officers came into contact with White, whose car was in the parking lot.

Officers seized pipes and pills, reportedly from inside White’s vehicle.  They also allegedly found more pills and drug paraphernalia inside White’s dorm room at Downey Hall.  White was booked into the Albany County Detention Center on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Marijuana and felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

The University of Wyoming Police Department has worked with LPD on the case.  No other information has been released.

If convicted on both charges, White could face a maximum of eight years in prison and up to $16,000 in fines.
