The Board of Trustees of Albany County School District One has selected an Interim Superintendent for the remainder of the 2014-2015 school year. The Board has selected Dr. Rod R. Kessler for the position while the search process occurs for the selection and hiring of a Superintendent.

Dr. Kessler will begin with the District on March 2nd and work through June 30th. At a special meeting on February 25, 2015, the Board approved Chair Marshall together with legal counsel to finalize and negotiate the details of Dr. Kessler’s contract with the District.

According to the school district, Dr. Kessler has worked in public education for 35 years. He retired from Johnson County School District in June of 2014 after serving in that position for 16 years. Prior to that, Dr. Kessler served 2 years as superintendent in Lowell, Oregon which was preceded by 11 years in Sweetwater School District #2 in Green River, Wyoming where he was a counselor, principal and Special Services Director. He spent his first 6 years teaching special education, elementary and middle school in South Dakota.

Dr. Kessler is married to LueAnn Kessler and they have three grown children: daughter Samantha lives in Kihei, HI; son Kellen lives in Billings, MT; and son Hayden lives in Flagstaff, AZ.

Together with the Wyoming School Boards Association, the Board intends for the process of searching, selecting and hiring the Superintendent to be as open and transparent as possible. The Board anticipates multiple opportunities for District Staff, community and stakeholder input into this Superintendent selection process.
