A crash involving two commercial trucks closed Interstate 25 early this morning. The crash occurred approximately eight miles south of Cheyenne on I-25 at mile post 2.4 northbound.
Officials say 58-year-old Anthony Harvey of Stewart, Florida was slowing down as he looked for the I-25 Port of Entry. Another commercial truck driven by 35-year-old Servio Castanon of Victorville, California came up behind the truck being driven by Harvey. Castanon did not notice that Harvey was slowing down and rear-ended the combination unit being operated by Harvey.
The crash caused the two truck combinations to become stuck together on the shoulder of the northbound lane of I-25. The crash ignited a fire which engulfed both combination units and caused the northbound lanes of I-25 to be closed. Northbound traffic was re-routed down the off ramp at the location of the accident and able to proceed around the crash.
Castanon and another occupant in his truck were transported by ambulance to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Following too close by Castanon is being investigated in the crash at this time
