Well, she can officially retire if she wishes. The lovely Emmylou Harris has reached the big 6-5 and it doesn't look like she's slowing down at all.

Miss Emmylou was born in Birmingham, Alabama on this date in 1947. She's made a name for herself as a very talented singer, songwriter and, perhaps most importantly of all, as an incredible background singer who brings a sweet voice and tone to just about any song.

Emmylou has performed with some of the greatest talents in music, including Graham Parsons, Roy Orbison, Mark Knofler, Willie Nelson and Guy Clark, to name a tiny few. And the girl's smart.  She graduated as Valedictorian of her high school class at Gar-Field Senior High School.

She has won an even dozen Grammy Awards (so far) and has contributed to songs from artists and albums across many genres but is probably best known as a country-folk artist with innumberable hits under her belt.

So, on this Monday, April 2nd, we pause to recognize and honor Miss Emmylou Harris. Happy Birthday and many, many more.
