Additional Information

This fall, the Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala (NISGUA) will host a tour with the genocide survivors’ group, the Association For Justice And Reconciliation (AJR). AJR Vice-President Anselmo Roldán Aguilar has been chosen to speak on behalf of the organization. Just one year after its formation in 2000, the AJR filed charges against former Guatemalan dictator Efraín Ríos Montt. In March of this year, Ríos Montt stood trial for genocide and crimes against humanity. After two months of trial, the former dictator was found guilty and sentenced to 80 years in prison. Anselmo, a founding member of the AJR, will speak about the historic genocide trial, his role within the AJR and his own story as a survivor of genocide.

Join us outside the Student Union West Entrance to give our good wishes to Anselmo Roldán Aguilar.
