The Department of Music’s Faculty Showcase will open at the recently completed Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts this evening.  Beginning at 7:30 p.m., some of the University of Wyoming’s acclaimed faculty chamber players will take part in the first performance since this summer’s renovations to the Performing Arts Center.

The selection for tonight’s recital will include chamber music by U.W. faculty composer Anne Guzzo, the Ravel piano trio, and Ivan Bozicevic’s “Spiritual Mountain.”

The performance will feature faculty soloists Stephen Barnhart, on percussion, and Blake McGee, clarinet.  Two faculty chamber ensebles, the Helios Trio and the Versimo Trio, will also perform.

The Faculty Showcase will provide concert-goers a first look at the newly opened Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.  A full grand opening of the University of Wyoming’s 95-seat recital hall, to be hosted by both the Department of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance, is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8.
