Finalists for the chief diversity officer position at the University of Wyoming will begin visiting the school this week.

Tommy Stevenson, who has held positions in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Mississippi State University, and who heads of Stevenson and Associates Consulting Group; and Mary Bonderoff, director of diversity education and campus outreach at the State University of New York-Oneonta, are scheduled to visit this week.

UW announced that they were looking to hire a chief diversity officer in February to increase minority students and faculty. The diversity officer will oversee recruiting efforts of faculty, staff and students, as well as being involved in race-based campus investigations by UW’s Title IX office.

The candidates will give public presentations as part of their two-day visits.

Stevenson’s presentation concluded yesterday at 5 p.m. and was held in the Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center.

Bonderoff’s presentation will be held Thursday, March 23 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Berry Center Auditorium.

The other two finalists will visit the university next week. Emily Monago, interim administrator in charge of equity, diversity and inclusion programs at Bowling Green State University; and Sumita Furlong, chief diversity and Global Pluralism Program officer for Great Lakes Colleges Association will visit next week and give presentations of their own.

Monago’s presentation will be held Tuesday, March 28 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Berry Center auditorium and Furlong’s presentation will be March 30 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the same location.
