Tanner Gentry has been one of the biggest surprises of the NFL preseason. Yesterday, the former University of Wyoming wide receiver scored the first touchdown of his professional career, hauling in a 45 yard bomb for the Chicago Bears.

Gentry's play has made him an overnight media darling in Chicago. The undrafted rookie even gave his first press conference last week.

For football fans here in Wyoming, Gentry's rise is reminiscent of another former Pokes receiver, Malcom Floyd. Like Gentry, Floyd was an all-conference player at Wyoming. And like Gentry, he flew under the rader and didn't get drafted.

Like Floyd, Gentry is making the most of his opportunity after signing as a free agent. The former Poke has quickly moved up the depth chart and is being heralded as a potential star.

Hopefully, he will continute to follow in Floyd's footsteps, who recently retired after ten seasons with the San Diego Chargers.
