Laramie’s premier Fourth of July celebration is back again this year. The 25th annual Freedom Has A Birthday celebration will be held in Washington Park on Saturday, July 4, and it offers a variety of activities for people of all ages.

According to Cassidy Biggs, a volunteer committee member for the event, Freedom Has A Birthday kicks off with the children’s parade at 9:30 a.m. followed by opening ceremonies.

Biggs says over 80 booths are expected this year, many of which will offer things like free ice cream, water, snow cones, watermelon, cookies, lemonade and other goodies. In addition, cupcakes will be offered as  A variety of other booths representing groups around the community will also be present.

This year there will be three stage areas for music and other entertainment, including the bandshell along with center and east stages. There will also be large inflatables on site for kids to play on for free. This includes a slide, obstacle course and bounce houses.

The children’s parade will take place on Rainbow Avenue just before opening ceremonies. The parade is open to all children who would like to participate. Children are encouraged to dress up for the holiday and show off their American pride for the parade. Anyone wishing to walk in it can meet at the Fox Theater parking lot before the parade begins at 9:30 a.m.

This year carriage rides around the park will also be available for those attending the event.

Biggs says over 10,000 people attend the event each year, and organizers are hoping for between 13,000 and 14,000 in attendance for 2015.

This year there will be no shuttle or shuttle parking to the park, so people are encouraged to find other parking and travel options.
