Garbage and Recycling Refund
The City of Laramie has an ordinance giving residents the option to receive a garbage and recycling refund for the time they are not in their homes. Those who plan to leave the city for vacation or business may qualify for the refund if they vacate their residence for more than 30 days. Business Operations Manager, Shawn Garcia, stresses that it is important to contact the city if a refund is desired:
Refunds are not back-dated because the city has already expended resources and manpower traveling to a house that did not need waste removal and recycling. The refund is only available to residential areas. If residents are gone for a month and several days that don't total more than 30 days, those extra days will be prorated for the refund.
