Global Climate March in Laramie
As the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference continues in Paris, Laramie will see its own global climate march on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
The march will begin with a rally at 5:00 p.m. at the Alice Hardie Stevens Center in the Ivinson Mansion at 603 Ivinson Ave., where speakers will address local and individual actions that can influence climate change policy.
The march itself will start at 5:30 p.m. and proceed into downtown Laramie. The march will then return to the Alice Hardie Stevens Center for warm refreshments.
The public is invited to this event. Co-organizer Martha Martinez del Rio says she hopes to see families and youthful participants in particular.
“The message is to convey I think just to ourselves and to the people who run local, state, and national governments that we are concerned that we need to address climate change now with proactive policy change or activity change,” says Martinez del Rio. “Our message, we hope, will be one of positive cooperation to reach this goal.”
