The battle for the starting quarterback position during spring football practice with the Wyoming Cowboys has just begun.

The Pokes have just one practice out of the way and 14 more to go, but one QB prospect might have the inside track to winning the coveted starting role.

Let us introduce Cameron Coffman. He's a redshirt senior who transferred to UW from University of Indiana last summer. He sat out last season and has just one year of eligibility left. Coffman is the only one on the roster with Division 1 playing experience.

Coffman started one season, 2012, at Indiana. He threw for 2,734 yards and finished second in the Big Ten Conference in passing yards per game, completions and attempts.

Also part of the QB battle are a pair of junior college transfers in sophomores Aaron Young and Josh Allen, and redshirt freshmen Austin Fort and Nick Smith.

The Cowboys return to practice Friday.
