As part of its Holocaust Remembrance Week, which runs November 9-14, 2015, the University of Wyoming has invited a Holocaust survivor to give a speech at the UW campus.

Survivor Estelle Nadel will talk about her experiences in the Holocaust on Wednesday, November 11 at 4 p.m. in room 302 at the College of Education.

Nadel lived in Poland and was 7 years old when the Nazis invaded in 1939. After the disappearance of her oldest brother and the deaths of her father and sister, Nadel hid in the attic of a neighbor alongside her brother, Stephan, and their mother Chaya.

After being recognized in the attic, Nadel and Stephan were taken to jail, from which they later escaped. The siblings eventually found the attic in which their extended family was living and stayed until they were liberated in 1945.

Nadel and her remaining brothers made their way into the United States in 1947. Nadel was then adopted by a family and raised in California. She currently lives in Westminster, Colorado with her husband, Fred.
